That’s TGL in a nutshell. It’s a team-based league created by TMRW Sports
(yep, that’s “tomorrow” without the vowels) in partnership with the PGA Tour. The idea?
Bring golf into the 21st century with a mix of real swings, virtual courses,
and a vibe that feels more like an NBA game than a quiet Sunday at the country club.
Oh, and it’s all happening in prime time, so you can watch it without waking up at dawn!
The league kicked off on January 7, 2025, at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens,
Florida – a massive 250,000-square-foot arena that’s basically a playground for golf lovers.
Picture this: a giant simulator screen (64 feet by 53 feet!), real grass tee boxes,
and a rotating green that changes shape for every hole. It’s like something out of a sci-fi movie, but it’s real, and it’s awesome.
The Teams and Players
TGL has six teams, each representing a different U.S. city, and they’re stacked with some of the biggest names in golf.
Each team has four PGA Tour players, with three hitting the course for every match. Here’s the lineup:
- Atlanta Drive GC: Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel, Lucas Glover
- Boston Common Golf: Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley, Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott

- The Bay Golf Club: Ludvig Åberg, Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee, Shane Lowry
With 33 majors and over 230 PGA Tour wins between them, these guys aren’t messing around.
Plus, they’re mic’d up during matches,
so you get to hear all the trash talk and strategy –

How It Works
Matches are 15 holes long and last about two hours –
perfect for a weeknight watch. They’re split into two parts:
Triples (Holes 1-9): Three players from each team take turns hitting in an alternate-shot format.
It’s fast and team-focused.
Singles (Holes 10-15): One-on-one matchups where each player plays two holes against an opponent.
The long shots are hit into that massive simulator screen,
showing off virtual holes designed by top architects like Nicklaus Design and Beau Welling.
Then, for shots within 50 yards,
players move to a real short-game area with a green that twists and turns like a Transformer.
Oh, and there’s a 40-second shot clock to keep things moving – no slowpokes allowed!
If it’s tied after 15 holes,
they go to overtime –
a closest-to-the-pin shootout that’s as tense as a penalty kick in soccer.
Every hole’s worth a point,
and the team with the most points wins. Simple, right?

TGL isn’t just golf – it’s an experience.
The tech is mind-blowing – think huge screens, real-time data,
and a green that changes shape with motorized jacks. It’s loud, it’s lively,
and it’s designed to pull in younger fans who might not sit through a four-day tournament.
Plus, with big-name owners like Serena Williams (Los Angeles GC) and Stephen Curry (The Bay GC), it’s got that celebrity sparkle.
The season runs from January to March,
with 15 regular matches leading to playoffs and a best-of-three finale for the SoFi Cup.
Atlanta Drive GC actually won the first-ever title on March 25, 2025,
beating New York Golf Club –

TGL’s already a hit – nearly a million people tuned in for the opening night,
and the buzz is only growing.
There’s even talk of expansion, with new teams and maybe a
West Coast venue in the works.
