KJ Henry came out early.

the left side of the Patriots’ defense and
brought down Jacoby Brissett for a seven-yard loss.

he only made one tackle in the first half, but what he showed was enough to confirm that he deserves a place in the team. Henry, like the rest of the guards on the roster, is struggling to impress the coaching staff that didn’t hire him. He has achieved this goal so far with his performance in practice and his contribution on special teams.

The team has a lot of factors to consider when making the initial 53-man roster, but at least Henry finished the game in good spirits.

The defense as a whole had a slightly different performance on Sunday night. After allowing a touchdown on their second drive of the game, they managed to keep the Patriots from scoring, but some problems remained, particularly on the third-and-long drive.

On the Patriots’ touchdown drive, Washington had two chances to beat the Patriots on third down from 8 and 14 yards. The unit fumbled on both plays, starting with quarterback Derrick Maye’s 17-yard scramble up the middle and Demario Douglas’ 16-yard run.

There were more examples later in the game. With the Patriots on third-and-9, Joe Milton evaded the tackler and put his team in field goal position with a 20-yard run.

There’s a lot to think about about Washington’s problems at No. 3. Witt kept the defense simple and the team had no game plan heading into the final preseason game. It was primarily an opportunity for players to react to what they saw from their opponents and build on the techniques they had learned over the last month.
