Rose Muralikrishnan. At the age of six, she
began taking classical singing lessons in South India.

Usha Vance (according to her classmates) was one of the top students at Yale Law School, where she met her future husband, J.D., who is currently a junior

senator from the state of Ohio and Donald Trump’s vice president. He held high-profile office positions and worked as a corporate lawyer for a white-shoe company until July.

He was instrumental in preparing for Tuesday night’s debate against Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz, who the campaign said made comments during a speech at the Republican National Convention.

“When JD met me, he was curious and enthusiastic about our differences, he knew everything about me, where I came from and what my life was like.”

He called their union a testament to “this great nation.”

“He’s a meat and potatoes guy, but he adapted to my vegetarian diet and learned how to cook Indian food from my mother,” he says. It was an exciting moment for music teacher Muralikrishnan.

“I couldn’t believe where he was standing,” he said. “Right now he’s making us all very proud.”

When she took the stage at the Republican National Convention, Usha Vance went for serious style — no flashy makeup or flashy looks. She wore a simple blue dress with gray streaks in her shoulder-length hair.

She described her husband as “a working class boy who got over a traumatic childhood”.
