Introduction: The 49ers dominate
San Francisco leads the NFC West The San Francisco 49ers shouldn’t be too worried after starting the season 2-3. They are still one of the best football teams. The 49ers aren’t quite perfect yet, and injuries have a lot to do with that, but I don’t think San Francisco is missing much.
The 49ers dominated the Seattle Seahawks in the first half on Thursday night, allowing the Seahawks to make an easy comeback in the second half but ultimately putting an end to their NFC West rivals. We beat them again by a point. 24-36.
George Keitel scored two points and Debo Samuel Sr. led the way with a long touchdown run. In an ideal world, San Francisco wouldn’t let Seattle back into the game and remain undefeated and become the talk of the NFL. It wasn’t an ideal start, but the 49ers are still in good shape.
49 took the lead
One of the reasons the Seahawks made the surprising decision to end the Pete Carroll era was the Seahawks’ last two seasons. Several were decided, but the complete absence of an NFC West rival threatened the franchise. They’ve lost a combined 49 games over the past two seasons, including the playoffs, none of which have been competitive.
The Seahawks are back on track
The 49ers offense moved the ball easily except in the red zone. The defense was all over the field attacking everything blue very hard. It was San Francisco’s special teams that got the Seahawks back into the game.
After the 49ers took an unassailable 23-3 lead, Laviska Shenault Jr. ran a punt 97 yards for a touchdown. It was the second NFL kickoff for a touchdown this season. Kenneth Walker then scored a third to give the Seahawks a 23-17 lead. Niners running back Jordan Mason injured his shoulder in the first half and played only the first play of the second half, impacting an offense that had been without Christian McCaffrey all season. San Francisco seemed to be struggling a bit.
