Katie Ledecky gave an emotional post-race interview after the 400 free final,
reflecting on her performance and the community around her.
Katie Ledecky reflected on her bronze medal performance in
the 400m freestyle at a post-final press conference in Paris.
“The course was very good and there was a chance I wouldn’t
get a medal, so I’m grateful for that, I’m grateful for my effort,
I’m glad I got a medal and I’m looking forward to it.
” I’m looking forward to the next race,” said Ledecky.
I don’t necessarily feel like I can do 400 these days, but I know it’s achievable.
Ledecky went on to talk about training with players like Bobby
Finke and Kieran Smith and said he was emotional about the
influence the people around him had on him in the sport.
It’s a very special group and that’s why I love this sport so much,
because I spend every day with Bobby, Kieran,
the coaches and everyone who believes in
me and has my back and today’s events are proof of that. “
