Introduction: Israel retaliates against
US officials say President Biden is aware of
this airstrike and is closely following its developments.
Israel’s local news channel 12 reported that
in a direct attack on Iran, Israel sent 140 air force
aircraft into the skies to target exports of missiles,
drones, rocket launchers and military
facilities, including Iran’s air defense systems.
Local radio stations also reported that the
IRGC headquarters in Tehran had been
attacked, but Fox News could not independently
confirm this. Reuters reported, citing local media,
that the explosions first occurred near Tehran, Iran’s
capital, and the nearby city of Karaj.
The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement
“In response to the Iranian regime’s months of
sustained attacks on the land of Israel, the Israel
Defense Forces is currently conducting targeted attacks
against Iranian military targets.” The Iranian regime and its
proxies in the region have been attacking Israel since
October 7th relentless attack, including direct attacks
from mainland Iran. Like any other independent
country, we will do whatever is necessary
to protect the Land of Israel and its people.”
A US official told Fox News that President Biden and Vice President Harris had been briefed on the attacks and were closely monitoring developments. Two US Defense Department officials told Fox News on Friday night that the US was given advance notice of Israel’s plan to attack Iran early Saturday morning local time in response to Iran’s October 1 attack.
Two Defense Department officials told Fox News that the United States was not involved in Israel’s actions. National Security Council spokesman Sean Chave also confirmed in a statement that Israel carried out retaliatory strikes.
“We know that Israel is carrying out targeted attacks against Iranian military targets as a defensive exercise and in response to the Iranian missile attack on Israel on October 1,” he said. “We will send it to the Israeli government if you need more information about their activities.”
