Introduction: FSU’s poor football
With much fanfare, Florida State football
fell to 0-2 for the first time since 2021
with a home opener against Boston College.
Led by quarterback Thomas Castellanos, the Eagles won 28-13 as Boston College’s offense overwhelmed the Seminoles’ weak defense.
The loss ends the Seminoles’ home series at nine.
“I’m just disgusted with the way the season started. “Obviously we weren’t prepared tonight for our team to go out and respond,” FSU coach Mike Norvell said. “What we should have done, what we talked about, what we emphasized, we obviously didn’t do at every stage.”
On Monday night, the Boston College Eagles travel to Tallahassee to open the 2024 season against the Florida State Seminoles. FSU opened its season despite a loss to Georgia Tech last week in Ireland, while Boston College begins its first term with a new coaching staff led by head coach Bill O’Brien.
“I didn’t give them the chance to show what I think about this football team and that’s very disappointing.”
FSU guard DJ Uiagalelei took to his bench and repeatedly yelled, “We want Brock” Monday night at Doak Campbell Stadium.
Brock Glenn is the Seminoles’ freshman backup and appeared in five games last year, including starts in the ACC Championship Game and the Orange Bowl.
Uiagalelei was 21 of 42, had a touchdown and an interception. Castellanos was 10 of 16 and threw two touchdowns, adding 85 rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.
Boston College scored two points in the second quarter on a run by Castellanos and another layup. The first drive was a 14-play, 71-yard drive that lasted 9 minutes and 18 seconds.
At one point in the first half, FSU outgained the Eagles for 172 yards and 8 yards.
The comeback came later when Uiagalelei hit Kentron Poitier to cut the deficit to 21-13. But the defense was unable to stop the game, and Boston College stormed back, 28-13.
Here are three highlights from FSU’s 28-13 loss to Boston College.
