Introduction: All the events
Team USA Para Equestrian continued its impressive performance at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, winning the team gold medal on Friday.
Team USA won its third title at the Paris 2024 Para-Equestrian Program, with team members Fiona Howard (Diamond Dons) and Rebecca Hart (Fellatina) winning individual gold medals. Roxanne Trunell, who won a silver medal with Juan Tastico H, was also part of the victorious US team.
Howard’s impressive 80,000% was her highest individual score to date at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and was enough to guarantee her victory.
The Netherlands, the reigning world champions, took silver and Germany took bronze.
Italy came fourth and hosts France fifth, one place better than Tokyo 2020. Great Britain, which has won every team since 1996, was sixth.
Close competition
Sixteen teams line up on the promenade next to the famous Palace of Versailles to receive their team medals. The stands were full of fans waving flags and wearing their country’s colors.
Three athletes from each country’s four representatives are selected by the team leader to compete with their team. They are selected based on their performance in the individual competition and their performance in the Para Grand Prix B team.
Throughout the day, the USA and the Netherlands went head-to-head, dominating the individual medals. But finally the II. class gold medalist Howard’s score was the highest of the day, crossing the 80 percent mark.
Teammates Roxanne Trunnell, who won individual silver in Class I on Tuesday with Fan Tastico X, and Rebecca Hart, with Floratina, in Class III. class, the gold medalist achieved 77,000 and 78.567 percent results, which sealed the Stars and Stripes deal.
The Netherlands won the silver medal again
While the USA had a total of 235,567 points, the Netherlands needed a good performance. Saint-Wots (Demantour), Demi Hawkins (Daura) and Rikust van der Horst (Royal Funk) finished with a total of 232.850 points, having won individual medals earlier in the week. This wasn’t enough to upset Americans, but it was enough to reaffirm Tokyo’s position in the awards ceremony.
